OUR STORY

ROOTED IN CALIFORNIA

Arctos Erosion Control, a proud member of Edwards Family Companies (EFC), draws its name and identity from a deeply rooted family story that embodies strength, resilience, and heritage. The name "Arctos" was inspired by the family's patriarch,  who often said, “If you’re going to be a bear, be a grizzly,” a phrase symbolizing the power and determination that the company stands for.

The scientific name Ursus arctos, meaning brown bear, also connects us to Monarch, the last known California Grizzly. Monarch, featured in our logo, serves as a symbol of independence and strength, reflecting our identity as a woman-owned business. Arctos’ CEO Kaycie Edwards shares, “This powerful connection to the grizzly bear represents both our commitment to resilience and the strong foundation laid by generations of the Edwards family.”
